Looking for Indie Music?
Written by on April 26, 2009 – 7:25 pm -I’m looking for new music to listen to. Please list any indie artists that you can think of (and some of their best songs) so that I can go check them out.
Thanks

Do you like folk/indie music?
Written by on April 18, 2009 – 12:47 pm -I know that indie origionally intended independant bands, but it’s kind of evolved into a genre of its own, kind of akin to folk music often.
Anyway, mostly, do you like folk music?
As in blues (like Robert Johnson way back), cultural folk music (old American folk (Oh My Darling)), or modern folk rock.
I LOVE it all. It seems like the most genuine form of music out there.
Neutral Milk Hotel
Fleet Foxes
Born Ruffians
etc.

Written by on April 17, 2009 – 12:31 pm -some of my guy friends think indie music like death cab for cutie, the shins etc. . . . are girly and only girls who don’t have boyfriends listen to indie music because its sappy and depressing.

Indie Music Magazines. do we need another one?
Written by on April 15, 2009 – 8:11 pm -I started an online indie music magazine a couple years ago, and within a year, it went around the world. Pretty amazing, since i didn’t know that there was that much of a demand for it. It’s been on hold due to lack of funds, but I want to restart it. I kind of have a few questions in respect to that:
1) Does Canada need a new/better publication for indie bands?
2) Who do I approach about publishing my magazine and how would I approach them about it? (I really want to take this into print!)
3) Is it too optimistic for me to want my publication to be the Rolling Stone of the indie music world?
4a) Did you ever visit www.soundline.ca when it was up?
4b) What’d you think?

What’s best the source/program to download rare indie music?
Written by on April 12, 2009 – 7:02 pm -I use soulseek generally, and I can find some very rare music on there; bands like Fingers-Cut, Megamachine and Hanalei – but I can’t seem to find a program or site where I can download The Ghost – the albums “This is a hospital” and “The Pen is a Weapon”.
I’ve already bought these CDs but they happen to be lost/broken/400 miles away, I don’t feel like dropping more cash on them at the moment. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
I’ve already tried Limewire and I don’t remember having any luck with Kazaa or similiar P2P programs.
